Blue Springs South High School is excited to announce that Alan Wilmes has been named head coach of the girls flag football program. Coach Wilmes will assume the head coaching position immediately in preparation for the first girls flag football season in Blue Springs South’s history, starting in the spring of 2027.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Wilmes as the first girls flag football coach at Blue Springs South. Coach Wilmes obviously brings years of experience in running a high school football team and we are confident he will do an outstanding job building our girls flag football program here at South.” said Activities Director Jimmy Cain.
Coach Wilmes will be entering his 5th season as the Jaguars head football coach next school year. Coach Wilmes led the Jaguars to a KC Suburban Gold Conference championship this past fall. He is a 3x finalist for the Erik Driskell Coach of the Year Award, while owning a career record of 48-26.
“I am very excited and honored to be the first head girls flag football coach at Blue Springs South! As a father of two female student-athletes, this is a great opportunity for my staff and I to create an environment that fosters the game of football for our female athletes. We are looking forward to aiding our young women in competing, education and having fun while learning the game of football!” said Wilmes.
